How to Survive the Chaos (a not so complete list, just a spark of thought)

If ever you were awaken by distant gunfire or screams or the worse a love one is  trying to eat you, I offer you some tips that I think may help survive the chaos:

1. Compose yourself! If you are awaken without some love one trying to eat you then you are still perfectly safe albeit for a couple of minutes only J

2. Scan your window and try to have a feel of your house or the other side of the door, remember that you in your room or living room. If you can determine that the chaos have not yet reached your castle (that’s your house!), then you in luck!

3. Recall if you are alone in your house or you have companions, if you do then its time to look for them (remember you are inside your house which I bet is locked) but before doing so, scan your immediate location for anything hard but easy to swing that can be used as a weapon. Never shout out loud for your companions, stealth is your ally here.

4. If you already gathered your companions or love ones and determine that they are not trying to eat you then its time now time to plan seriously! If you are alone then disregard the gathering part but if your love one is trying to eat you, then dispose of them by smashing their heads to kingdom come!

5. Check the locks of your doors and if you are in a gated (steal not white picket fences) compound secure the surroundings as well but after you have locked and boarded any door, windows or possible entry points that can be easily destroyed like plastic/thin wire screen doors. After you satisfied yourself that no other thing can get through it then breath and eat breakfast, you’ll need the most important meal of the day to survive your day one of the death or survival of Mankind…

6. One thing to remember that once you have established that the neighbors or love ones you knew are now dead and trying to eat you is that those who are not yet dead will likely kill you for the supplies, weapons or anything they can get from you in order to survive, but good news is that there will still some sane people who will band themselves and will help others like you J

7. Now, check your supplies like food, water and batteries for you flash light and radio. Remember to charge everything as soon as you gather them up! Power from the grid will not last long, so the more power you have stored, the better. If you have fuel, gather them as well. Open your television and radio to check WTF is happening and WTF is the Government trying to do to help you!

8. Ration everything , remember that your local convenient store is already as fucked-up as you or that the people working there is out to eat you. Try to secure a knapsack that contains the basics like food, water, radio, matchsticks, lighter and makeshift weapons that can be easily carried while running! There will a time when you have to abandon your castle in order to survive this ordeal.

9. Communicate with others whom you trust, try to gather any information being dished from the tube or radio and know what others are planning. Maybe there is an evacuation plan (if the chaos is still at bay)

10. Try not to attract attention from the living and the dead, the latter the most problematic since we all know that when they know there are some fresh meat at a general location they will not stop at nothing, they could be now amassing in your door or fenced gate or compound, if this happens then you have a couple of hours until your defenses are overwhelmed. Plan ahead before this happen, if there is no evac plan then try to see if you can hop into another one’s house or worst case is board your vehicle and get the hell out of there!

11. Never confront a group of the undead even if you have the numbers at the moment, remember that they still have the upper hand besides one bite can transform you into one of them unless you are in dire need of supplies or that they are blocking a key path into a secured location, do at best to be stealthy.

Now, you have survived Day 1 of the Day of the Rising of the Undead 2012 (DRU2012).
